Getting Involved with Phoenix Metro DSA

Ready to get involved with our chapter? It starts with becoming a member of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA).

Become a DSA Member

To join DSA, sign up as a dues-paying member using the button below. You pick your level of dues — from $5 to $50 a month.

Can’t make the financial commitment? To receive a dues waiver (so that you can become an official member without paying dues), all you need to do is fill out the form here.

Get Plugged into Our Organizing

Once you become a member, you can start participating in our organizing chats and committee meetings, and you become able to vote in internal decisions and elections.

Here’s how to get plugged in:

1) After you become a DSA member, you should immediately receive a welcome email with a subject line that starts with "Thank you for being a DSAer!"

2) Forward that email to phoenixdsainfo@gmail.com so we can get you connected to our organizing!

Join Us at an Upcoming Event!

DSA 101 and Monthly Chapter Meetings

Every month, we hold a chapter meeting. These always start with a brief DSA 101 where you can learn about how we organize and what we do. After the DSA 101, we dive into updates from our campaigns and committees. When appropriate, we may also use chapter meetings to consider member-submitted resolutions and engage in other forms of chapter democracy. These are always held on the third Saturday of every month.

You do not have to be a DSA member to attend a chapter meeting. All are welcome!

Socialist Social

A casual introduction to our organization can be met with our monthly Socialist Socials, where you can meet like-minded allies in your community who are current, former, or potentially future members of the Phoenix DSA. Join us to share a drink, food, and conversation with DSA members and folks like you who are interested in learning more!

Other Events and Activities

  • Canvassing, phonebanking, and other outreach in support of endorsed candidates for state and local office

  • Picketing alongside striking workers and in support of organized workers and organized labor

  • Showing up to City Council meetings and official hearings in support of tenant rights, immigrant rights, and more

  • Rallies and mobilizations like No Kings and May Day

  • Political education events including our weekly book club

  • Mutual aid events to distribute water, food, clothing, and other necessities in an environment focused on mutual support and community, not charity

  • And so much more!

Lets Talk About Dues

Dues are an important source of power for DSA members. We decide democratically as a chapter how to use our funds by coming together every year to vote on a chapter budget. To aid in our self-funded endeavors, become a member.

Here's some of the more relevant facts on dues:

  • On average, members pay about $10 a month.

  • Dues fund campaigns, operational costs, mutual aid, and other chapter activities, along with national-level infrastructure and staff.

  • Dues keep us funded and allow us to be financially independent, not bought and paid for by big donors.
